ITGI Medical is an Israeli bio-medical engineering company specializing in research and development, design, manufacture and distribution of high quality heterologous tissue covered stents for Cardiovascular and Neurovascular interventions. ITGI has proprietary patents, techniques and devices to cover stents with heterologous tissue. Our goal is to provide the medical community with “the best service for the best product” to accomplish our philosophy: “help people heal people”.

Company Roots

In 1997 Carlos Vonderwalde; the inventor of our product came up with the idea to cover a stent with heterologous tissue, he presented the idea to an interventional cardiologist who gave his approval and requested for some refinement of the initial prototypes. Soon after, Carlos engineered the first Pericardium covered stent by wrapping pericardium on a bare metal stent. The initial implantations were a success as the follow up angiographies showed complete patency of the stent. Some of this data was eventually published in different magazines, among them one at the American Journal of Cardiology, where Gaspar et al documented 4 Coronary Artery Aneurysm cases where bovine pericardium covered stents successfully exclude the aneurysms. Short term (5-8 months) clinical follow up was event free. Three of the patients had 6 month angiographic follow up that showed insignificant luminal loss. After all the development and CE mark approvals the company adopted the name "I.T.G.I" when it was  incorporated in Israel, which stands for Interventional Technologies for Graft Implantation. In 2007 I.T.G.I had its initial public offering on the Tel Aviv stock exchange. This IPO gave the company the opportunity to develop and mass manufacture a pericardium covered stent.

Technology and Emerging Applications

Our proprietary technology and knowledge in working with heterlogous tissue is propelling our growth. We're focusing on current technologies and application that improve the standard of care for patients around the world in the fields of interventional Cardiology and Neurology for the application in Coronary and neurological  aneurysms, Saphenous Vein Graft occlusion (SVG Disease) and vascular perforations. Studies conducted prove that ITGI’s propriety technology can address these clinical problems in a safe and effective manner.

ITGI's currently main area of development is:

  • Coronary application of the Heterologous tissue (Equine pericardium) 100% covered stent.
  • Neurological applications of the Heterologous tissue covered stent

The company is investing in clinical studies to prove the long term safety and efficacy of the pericardium covered stent. ITGI's aim is to provide solution to address clinical complexities in a safe and effective manner
